The Bus on Oahu is a great way to travel, it is easy, relaxing and affords great opportunity to see the beauty of the island. Compared to other forms of travel, The Bus is also comparatively affordable and you won’t have to worry about directions to various destinations. The Bus can accommodate bicycles but you may not bring a surf board on The Bus. At the Kailua Information Center (KIC) office, there are bus schedules for any route you might want to take, free for your keeping. The following information uses KIC as a starting point


TO KAILUA BEACH PARK AND LANIKAI: Bus stop is on Kailua Road in front of Lau Hala Shops - the former Macy's building.  Take Bus 671 with Lanikai destination. Check Route 671 time schedule since the wait between buses can be long.

TO ALA MOANA CENTER or MAKAP’U POINT: Bus stop on Kailua Road in front of Lau Hala Shops. Take Bus 67 with Sea Life Park as destination. To Ala Moana Center, take Bus 67 from the other side of Kailua Road - the Times Super Market side.

TO ENCHANTED LAKE: Bus stop on Kailua Road in front of Macy’s. Take Bus 673. It loops around Enchanted Lake and comes back by the Kailua Shopping Center/

TO WAIKIKI: Bus stop on Kailua Road in front of Times Super Market. Take bus number 67. Upon boarding ask for a “transfer” and the make the transfer at Ala Moana Center where a number of buses go via the center to Waikiki with Bus 8 being the most frequent.

You can also catch Bus 67 going towards Ala Moana at any number of other stops around Kailua Town.  Just be sure to ask for a transfer to hop any number of buses going to Waikiki from there!

TO NORTH SHORE, AND HALEIWA From Kailua Town, take Bus 66 towards Aikahi.  At Aikahi Shopping Center transfer to the 61 - Kaneohe Bound. . In Kaneohe, at the Windward Mall transfer to Bus 60, North Shore bound.  

Note: When a bus change is necessary, always ask the driver for a transfer to avoid extra cost. Also, if unsure of a transfer bus stop, as the driver, most drivers are cordial and helpful.

Taxis:
There are several taxi services available.  You don't have to know where you are going and You don't have to worry about parking.  However it is Costly. 1 ride for 20 minutes can easily be more than a car rental for the day. In Kailua taxis are scarce and need to be called.
